ABOUT AVALANCHE DESIGN
Avalanche Design is a California based automotive design studio developing premium carbon fiber aerodynamic components and custom forged wheels for performance and exotic vehicles. Our current automotive programs include purpose designed components for the second generation Audi R8, with future development extending to additional vehicle platforms.
Our approach comes from automotive design. Every product begins with an understanding of the factory vehicle's proportions, surfaces, graphics, and architecture. Rather than treating aftermarket components as isolated additions, we design around the existing vehicle so each part becomes a considered extension of the original design.
OEM DESIGN APPROACH
Our development process follows methods used throughout professional automotive design. Vehicle geometry is captured through high resolution 3D scanning and developed digitally using professional automotive surfacing tools including Autodesk Alias. Designs are evaluated for proportion, fitment, manufacturing feasibility, and integration with factory mounting architecture before reaching production.
Depending on the product, development can include digital surfacing, computational fluid dynamics, physical prototyping, and vehicle fitment testing. This process allows us to refine both the visual design and engineering behind each component before the final part is produced.
MATERIALS AND PRODUCTION
Avalanche Design carbon fiber components are developed for lightweight construction, precise fitment, and long term durability. Our carbon programs utilize pre-preg dry carbon fiber and autoclave manufacturing for applications where structural performance, weight, surface quality, and dimensional accuracy are critical.
Our custom forged wheel program applies the same design philosophy to vehicle proportion and stance. Each wheel can be developed around the specific vehicle, fitment requirements, and customer design direction. Available constructions include monoblock, two piece, and three piece designs, with material options including 6061 T6 forged aluminum, 7075 forged aluminum, and titanium depending on the application and performance requirements.
